Who I am

Hello hello!

My name is Katerina. In 2019, my husband, our little one and I moved to Canada. It was the moment when I started feeling lost.

All my life, I used to make common steps: schooling, working, and starting a family. I was a valued professional: my level of English was high, I was constantly learning and applying new teaching techniques, and I had a Master’s Degree. Suddenly all these things ceased to matter. Without Canadian experience, nothing really mattered, so I was eager to gain it. Inside my head, I had the following dialogue:

– Do I want to teach?
– Well, I stumbled into teaching back in my home country, so why not try something new?
– Sounds reasonable. What do I want to do?
– I have no idea.

I looked at my skills from another perspective and realized that I could work as an Administrative Assistant or some kind of Advisor. After sending tons of resumes and hearing nothing back, I decided to give retail a try. I worked as a Store Associate during crazy Christmas time when my part-time position transformed into almost full-time. I learned so many things, but the most important was that I’m not into sales and customer service. At least in this way.

And then, I took a course on “Writing for Instagram.” I learned how to share my ideas and tell stories so that people want to respond and share their opinions in return. I remember the goosebumps I got when two girls who didn’t know each other started exchanging comments under my post.

Now I know that I want to write. That’s why I created this blog – to practice writing in English and make my dream of working as a content creator come true.

So far, I’ve managed to land two jobs in the industry–which I consider a huge success. Let’s keep rolling!
